If you’ve ever worked on a jigsaw puzzle, you’ll know the feeling. Corners or edges first? Some people start with the corners, others find the edges. Maybe there’s a patch of sky or a tree that’s easier to tackle than the whole forest? Everyone approaches it differently, but the goal is the same: a clear, concise and complete picture.
That’s exactly how we’re approaching this step-change digital transformation. We’ve already meticulously laid the groundwork (corners and edges!) now we’re methodically building out the picture, section by section, with precision and purpose.
Behind the Scenes: Building in Focused Sections
The foundation is solid. Our new NAFN system’s strategic framework is firmly in place. Now we’re layering on the detail: designing, building, and testing each section of the new system to ensure it’s not just technically sound, but truly user-ready for our members.
One of the biggest sections we’ve recently completed is the Enquiries module, a core part of what NAFN offers and what our members rely on most, every day.
Replacing old repetitive tasks with new intuitive processes
Through API integration, we’re streamlining repetitive processes so members can reuse data across multiple enquiries, eliminating unnecessary duplication. It’s one of many ways the system is being designed to work intuitively, smarter, and faster.
Take the Bank Account Verification (BAV) feature as an example: we’ve just demonstrated to members how lightning-fast the results are thanks to this API integration. This isn’t just a software upgrade, it’s a major step-change in efficiency and future-proofing.

Built With You, not just For You
Crucially, we’re not doing this alone. After each development sprint, we bring in Member User Testing Groups to test the new features in real-world scenarios. Your feedback is what transforms a good idea into a great tool.
Why does that matter?
Because when systems aren’t tested by the people who use them, costly issues pile up later. In fact, research shows it can cost up to six times more to fix problems after go-live than to catch them during development.
