NAFN AGM and Conference 2025 – One Week to Go!

As the big day draws closer, we are delighted to announce that over 570 attendees have already registered for this year’s NAFN AGM and National Conference. With just one week to go, anticipation is building for what promises to be an engaging and insightful event.

This year’s virtual annual general meeting and conference will once again bring together leaders and members from across the public and private sectors. It offers a valuable opportunity to learn, share good practice and hear directly from experts tackling some of the most pressing issues in fraud prevention and governance.

Announcing Keynote speaker and speaker

Keynote Speaker: Tom Hayhoe

We are honoured to welcome Tom Hayhoe, the UK’s Covid Counter Fraud Commissioner, as keynote speaker at the NAFN AGM and Conference. Appointed by HM Treasury, he has led cross-government efforts to recover public funds lost to pandemic-related fraud and strengthen procurement oversight. With extensive leadership experience across healthcare, governance and commercial strategy, Mr. Hayhoe has chaired West Middlesex University Hospital, West London NHS Trust and currently chairs the Legal Services Consumer Panel and the Taxation Disciplinary Board.

At the conference, he will share reflections from his tenure as Commissioner, highlighting the challenges, successes and lessons learned in tackling fraud and safeguarding public resources.

Speaker: Emily Turnbull

Emily Turnbull, Counter Fraud Specialist for NHS Counter Fraud Service Wales, will be joining us as one of the expert speakers. She brings over a decade of experience within the NHS, having started her career in 2009 and transitioning into counter fraud in 2014. Her journey from Admin Support Assistant to achieving her NHS Counter Fraud Specialist Accreditation in 2019 is a testament to her dedication and expertise. She has served as a Local Counter Fraud Specialist for Cardiff and Vale University Health Board and since 2022, has been part of the regional team tackling fraud and corruption across Wales.

In addition to her current role, Emily is a qualified Financial Intelligence Officer and is now working towards her Financial Investigator qualification, further strengthening her ability to combat financial crime in the public sector.
